Redevelopment of Well No. 22
City of Garden Grove | 2012
Well No. 22 is located inside the West Garden Grove Booster Pumping Facility and has been in operation since the 1970s. The City contracted JIG Consultants to evaluate the efficiency of the well and provide a recommendation for its redevelopment. The project included a hydraulic efficiency test on the existing well with a step-drawdown test and groundwater quality testing. The completed analysis included a review of the following:
A summary of the well efficiency test was summarized in a Preliminary Design Report. The well redevelopment included removing the existing well pump for reconditioning, performing a video log and spinner test, light swabbing and bailing to remove mild encrustation, well disinfection, well pumping for removal of residual chlorine and particulates, and reinstallation of the reconditioned well pump. As Well No. 22 is an important facility for the City, the well was only taken out of service for a total of 21 calendar days. |
